The first big purchase for the newlyweds!

So as y'all know we live in Slaton, TX and have a rather tiny house with an absence of storage space especially in the kitchen. After months of searching and countless tears over not having any room to store all of my awesome new kitchen gadgets from the wedding, my husband & I finally found the perfect little hutch! Well.... I say its little. It's really rather large and heavy because it's real wood. It's super awesome! We found it off  Craigslist. I'm not really a 'rustic' kinda gal - I'm more vintage - however hubby is a good ol' country boy and LOVES the rustic look.

See? Rustic. Cowhide cover accents and all! It even has a beer bottle opener nailed to the side of the hutch. *insert yahoo straight face here*

(however) CHECK OUT THIS STORAGE SPACE!

Ahhhhh my favorite... the liquor cabinet! Appropriately placed up high for homes with hopes of having small children soon.

So how hard did this awesome find damage a newlyweds' pocketbook? It was only $600! We had looked everywhere and found nothing less than $500 and those were hutches made of particle board. This was such an awesome buy and I LOVE IT!! It has so much character and was a perfect match for our dining room table & chairs. Yay for Craigslist & yay for making our home!

For Lisa... And the rest of you out there who read this stuff!

I know I know... I slacked by a couple of days! School has kept me busy since we are at the end of our semester! Can I getta woo woo?! A lot has happened since I last blogged, but for the majority of you who keep up with me on Facebook you know most of it. Well here's the skinny:

  • Aaron & I moved to Slaton (previous blog about this)
  • Aaron & I got married on November 27, 2011! This was by far the happiest day of my life. We were so blessed to have so many family and friends share this awesome day with us!
  • I started and am about to wrap up my 6th semester of college and I'm not anywhere near being done (I think). Two of my semesters just turned out to be really really crappy. I had a lot going on last year. My parents have decided to separate with intentions of divorce. Aaron & I were experiencing trouble with our families with things regarding the wedding and just in a rut! We are all super now.
    •  Oh by the way  I'm doing awesome this semester. Hope to end it off with 3 As & 1 B! Holla!
  • Aaron & I purchased our first big piece of furniture. Revealing pictures will come at a later blog. =)
  • Aaron made the decision to become Catholic which was HUGE and so incredible! It was probably the 2nd best day of my life.
Hmmm I think that's it for the major stuff. I have still continued working on getting settled in our little house. I'm not working this semester or any semesters any time soon because my sweet wonderful hubby thinks I should focus solely on school. SCORE!

Having said that... being a stay-at-home housewife has definitely kept me busy. I've become a baker, a cook (well, a better/more frequent one), and a seamstress. Seamstress may be stretching it a bit, but I did make my own curtains for our kitchen!! Again, pictures revealing the cutest curtains ever will come at a later blog.

Enough with the catch-up, here's something I've been thinking about lately:

Lately I've started watching Ally McBeal (again), and with all of the bad things that have happened to her, her therapist told her to think of a song whenever she starts getting 'troubled'. Ally decides that "Tell Him" by The Exciters will be her song:

I've decided that I need a song, a song for when I'm troubled,a song that gets me dancin'! So here you go:

Tarantula... by Bob Schneider. Doesn't it just make you want to dance?!

What would yours be?

Coming to a blog near you...

Be expecting a blog soon (like tomorrow). I have a lot of free time now (kinda) and I'm going to make a conscious effort to start blogging more. I have a lot to talk about and I need to get it out there! I read over my past blogs & I keep saying "okay let me catch you up" or "I know I haven't written in a while...." but no more! It's a mid-year resolution for me! Need more blog!

TTFN!

You named it what?!

Well, as most of you know I'm getting married soon... Uh like in 12 days. I waited to the last minute to work out and make sure I looked fabulous for my dress and resorted to crash dieting. My best friend of 20+ years Jessica b.k.a. Jeska decided to resort with me. We've become very into eating healthy even though we still find ourselves struggling. We talk about it everyday and realized we probably aren't the only girls out there who have secret eating habits, have bad jean days, and love pizza. So... we decided to blog about it! It's been quite fun to talk to blogland and express how we feel about eating, dieting, healthfood, junkfood, ourselves, each other and everything in between. We are hoping this blog urges us to continue to keep up with eating healthy. I guess we feel if people are reading and we want to keep up with it... then we better! You fellow bloggers, I guess in a sense, will be our conscious. Be kind though. Anyway, I now introduce to you our newest baby.... drumroll please.....

The Outfit for The Walk of Shame

I'm sure we've all done the walk of shame once or twice... huh? You haven't? Oh. Yeah, me either. Anyway, I'm sitting next to this girl in the computer lab at school and she's DEFINITELY wearing a 'walk of shame' outfit. I could only take half a picture but the shoes say it all...

You can kinda see the black skirt and above that was a sweatshirt over the rest of her dress. Girlfriend, it's Tuesday... And its almost 5 p.m. Skip a class! Go home and change!

Time Flies...

And boy have I been having fun! Over the last year and a half I guess, I moved, dated, moved again, got engaged, moved again, quit work, and moved hopefully for the last time for a while. It's been a busy life and after keeping up with my dear friend Brianne's blog I realized I miss blogging and I want something to be able to look back and see us back then, later on. (Especially now that my very own personalized family is in the works!)

As most of you know a lot has happened in the last two years and the most important: a marriage(almost)! 11.27.10 Is "THE BIG DAY"! I will give myself completely to the man I'm 100% certain is meant to share his life with me. Crazy, but it's awesome.

As most relationships have good and bad times, we've been lucky to have a lot of good times. In order to achieve even more good times Aaron and I were led to pack things up and move to Slaton, TX. It's a little town Southeast of Lubbock population of 3609 (now 3611) and its cute, and quaint and I love it ! Tractors drive down the street, everyone knows everyone, the community is great, and my allergies hate me because of the cotton.

We have a crooked house, a funny church community, good friends, and are starting a marriage while we are both attending school. So I guess instead of just solely ranting on my school life, I will be ranting on the joys of a new marriage, good friends, and our crooked house.

The New Digs

So I’m going to bombard y'all with pictures and stories to catch you up with what's been going on in my world... (I hope!)

First and most importantly… I have my first very own apartment. I’m loving it!!! ...For the most part. I’ve had a few ups and downs with things. A few maintenance problems and the apartment manager slow on fixing them but it was nothin’ Mama Teresa couldn’t handle.

So anyway here are a few pics of the new casa!

Here is the living room. I love my new couch from Ikea. Courtesy of the parental units. Aaron & I found the curtains at Burlington Coat Factory for 9 bucks! Pillows were 3 bucks each at Kohl’s. I’m sooooo all about bargains!

Here’s my kitchen. It has all new appliances. It’s a pretty good size.

My bedroom needs some work. I’m looking for curtains (obviously) and I need more room for clothes and shoes! Aaron just built me two shelves for shoes. Big shelves. I need to put them up. My closet (which I forgot to take a picture of) is ginormous. It’s pretty much full. Grr!

I like it though, seriously. It’s weird being a ‘grown-up’ in school – paying bills all on my own, cooking all of the time, and cleaning up after myself constantly because no one is there to do it. I’m enjoying it.
